Is everyone listed on the platform a verified professional?
Yes. We commit to ensuring that everyone on the platform is qualified to practice with a reputable professional body in their given area of expertise. When a professional requests to list their profile on Link to Health, we verify their certification with a reputable professional body before accepting their profile is live. The specific professional bodies we deem as ‘reputable’ are stated in other health category specific FAQs.
What is a professional body?
A professional body is an organisation that promotes and represents members of the healthcare profession and may include curriculum frameworks, post-registration education and training, and continuing professional development. The professional body acts to ensure the correct standard of conduct and safe practice is being upheld by each healthcare professional.
How do I know if a healthcare professional will accept health insurance?
See the ‘fees’ section on the health professionals’ profile to explore whether or not they accept health insurance. If it is not clear or you would like clarification, we suggest contacting the health professional directly by clicking ‘Contact’ on their profile.

Nutritionist
Do you list dietitians on your platform?
Yes, Link to Health lists dieticians. For simplicity, professional nutritionists and dieticians on our platform are both categorised under ‘Nutritionist’ as it’s a more well-recognised term. Each professional should state their specific education, experience, and title, in their personal profile.
What is the difference between a nutritionist and a dietitian?
Dietitians are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and typically specialise in specific dietary requirements. Nutritionists are registered with the Association for Nutrition (AfN) and provide evidence-based information and guidance about the impact of food and nutrition on health, wellbeing, and performance.
What qualifications do nutritionists need?
A nutritionist on Link to Health must have at least achieved a BSc in nutrition or dietetics (or a closely related study area) and be registered with either the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), Association for Nutrition (AfN), or the Sport and Exercise Nutrition Register (SENr). Please note that ‘nutritional therapists’ are typically not certified by the AfN, HCPC, or SENr, and are therefore not listed on Link to Health.
Therapist
What’s the difference between a psychotherapist and a psychologist?
Psychotherapists use talking therapy and associated methods to help treat people with emotional and mental illnesses. A practising psychologist will normally provide practical directed therapy to help with emotional and mental illnesses.
What qualifications do therapists need?
A reputable therapist should be registered with one of the many professional bodies for therapists in the UK, including the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) or the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), and undergo extensive training and practice hours before practicing independently.
Personal Trainer
What qualifications do personal trainers need?
A personal trainer on Link to Health will hold at least an endorsed Level 3 Diploma in personal training with the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA), following their completion of a Level 2 certificate in gym instructing. This ensures that all personal trainers on our platform meet the high standard and requirements to provide safe and trustworthy training support.
Physio

A physiotherapist in the UK must, by law, be registered with the Health and Care professions Council (HCPC). A physiotherapist will have at least achieved a BSc degree in physiotherapy.
